SEASONAL FARM REPORT

FALL 2024 

Fall is here! Out in the grove, as the fig trees wind down, we revel in the signs of Fall: the pomegranate trees (Rocky's favorite) bursting with bright red balls, brussels sprouts and snapdragons popping up through the soil, arugula heading to market, and a whole bunch of new herbs sprouting in our little nursery. 

On the down-low, I am fixated on another development: five big, bossy chickens. Carolina, the leader of the group, always has a lot to say. They strut around like they own the place. Rocky listens patiently and actually seems to enjoy their company. Of course I act cool, but let’s face it, there can only be one of us ruling the roost around here. 

Yesterday, the humans gave me and Rocky delicious, fresh eggs from inside the coop. Now I don’t know how much longer I can stay annoyed with them.

Well, back we go to monitor progress on the bananas and papayas, two of my favorite groves, as they are readied for the colder weather.
